YAMAHA DSP-1 MAKES ANY ROOM AN ACOUSTIC WONDERLAND – Chicago Tribune

chicagotribune.com

The Yamaha DSP-1 transforms any room into an acoustic wonderland with its advanced digital technology, offering a compelling live performance illusion. Its sophisticated microprocessor, akin to a simple computer, skillfully crafts echoes and reverberations, enhancing sound realism. With 16 factory settings based on real concert hall acoustics, it offers an impressive auditory experience. However, the additional cost for extra amplifiers and speakers, potentially exceeding $1,000, may deter some. While audio purists might balk at its sonic alteration, the DSP-1 remains unobtrusive to the main stereo channels. Despite its complex remote and potential setup challenges, the DSP-1 is hailed as a significant sonic advance that redefines home listening experiences.

Yamaha DSP-1 Surround Processor review, test, price

hifi-review.com

The Yamaha DSP-1 emerges as a game-changer for audiophiles, delivering an unmatched ability to replicate the acoustic ambiance of various performance venues right in your living room. While not inexpensive, it offers profound improvements in sound realism, vastly enhancing the home audio experience beyond traditional stereo. Its versatility in simulating diverse environments makes it particularly appealing, despite some complexity in setup. However, users may find the remote control's display hard to read from a distance and the inclusion of a center speaker less impactful for music. Overall, the DSP-1 is a robust tool for those seeking to elevate their auditory experience, making it a worthwhile investment.

Yamaha DSP1 effects unit

One of yamahas first digital effects units, a good allrounder with some really interesting convolution reverb effects, chorus, flangers and psycho acoustic effects . You can pick these up on ebay for fairly cheap when they come up and I use it as part of my reference monitor system. Has a inbuilt bypass switch for clean signal path when not in use.
