Critic Reviews

Yamaha Revstar RSE20, RSS20, RSS02T and RSP02T review | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

Yamaha's Revstar Standard RSS20 delivers a winning combination of playability and unique features at an attractive price point. Its resonant chambered mahogany body and dry switch offer tonal versatility, making it a solid choice for various styles. However, the humbuckers on the RSE20 may not perform as expected, potentially affecting sound quality. While the build quality is commendable, a few sharp fret ends detract from the overall feel. Ultimately, the RSS20 shines as a modding platform and a reliable gigging instrument, though buyers should be mindful of potential pickup inconsistencies.

Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS20 Electric Guitar Review

laceyguitars.com

The Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS20 dazzles with its striking design and solid sound quality, making it a standout choice for guitarists seeking both aesthetics and performance. The unique hollow body construction enhances resonance, while the powerful AlNiCo pickups deliver a versatile tonal range perfect for various genres. However, its weight may be a concern for some players, as it tips the scales at almost 8 pounds. Additionally, the Focus-Switch feature is a hit or miss, catering to specific tonal preferences. Overall, this guitar combines style and substance, appealing to those who want to make a statement on stage.

You want the best and most versatile guitar? Look no more!

I'm speechless. The new Revstar is not only gorgeous, but its neck also feels great, the pickups sound amazingly pure and the controls allow for a lot of versatility! The push-pull adds some power to the sound, getting that sweet "breaking spot" where your drive sounds angrier and a bit louder. SO GOOD! The neck feels amazing and stays in place like no other, probably due to the graphite reinforcement. And the frets were polished like diamonds out of the box! Never seen that in more expensive gear from Gibson, Fender, you name it! Yamaha made a guitar that you pick up, play and don't want to put it down. Incredible! I couldn't recommend it more, try for yourself and tell me later. :)
