In November 1975, Eric Clapton used a Yamaha prototype SG1000 during his Kyoto concert on his first tour of Japan. This is documented in color photographs and bootlegs, such as "EC MEETS YAMAHA," as noted in a release on Yahoo!フリマ.

This is my new baby ... a Yamaha SG1000.. it’s a beauty, plays fabulously and I’ve wanted one for a long long time. Thank you to @yamaha_guitars for sorting me out .. it’s so great to play.... been playing some of my favourite Siouxsie and the Banshees riffs on it. John McGeoch was the guitarist at the time of my favourite Banshees albums... the man responsible for some of the greatest riffs ever .. Spellbound, Christine, Happy House to name a few. He was also the guitar player in Magazine and PIL (for a while). A wonderful player.... his riffs are so elegant and once you learn how to play them there is almost a zen like quality to the sound and movement of your hands.. it reminds me of the beauty in @johnnymarrgram’s playing. Bob was presented this guitar by Yamaha whilst touring in Japan. After The Wailers' last tour in 1979, he gave it to the band's bassist, Aston Barrett. Barrett later lent the guitar to promoter Angus Reid. When he tried to retrieve it later, Reid refused to return the guitar, and later attempted to auction it. Barrett filed for a lawsuit, following which, the guitar was believed to have been returned to him.

John can be seen playing the guitar during this performance of 'Shot by Both Sides' with Magazine on the Belgian TV series Follies in 1979.

Like Frank Nevetta from Descendents, Brett used this early in the band's history. Around the 1:00 mark, you can see him playing this.

In the YouTube video "Roxy Music – Over You (Studio, TOTP)," Bryan Ferry is seen playing a Yamaha SG1000.

Frank Navetta has used this guitar during the early days of the Descendents. It can be seen in the early pictures of him.

Mike doesn’t just play keys... he can sling an axe too. The Yamaha MusicCorporation makes some fine, quality guitars that many top musicians have used over the years. This SG 1000 is no exception.

Cooper used a variety of guitars while playing with the Descendents but one of the few common ones were Yamaha SGs. This picture clearly shows Cooper playing an SG1000 without the pickguard.

Hisashi Yoshino has consistently played the Yamaha SG1000 throughout his career with eastern youth. In the video "eastern youth - 沸点36℃ @ METEO NIGHT" on YouTube, Yoshino is seen using the guitar. He initially chose the SG1000 for its Japanese craftsmanship and was influenced by the band Stiff Little Fingers.

At 26.41 in the video Simon can be clearly playing this guitar for Magazine. He is playing a different guitar at the start of the video.
