Critic Reviews

A $2k Pacifica? We play the new Yamaha Pacifica Professional | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

Yamaha's Pacifica Professional defies expectations, delivering stunning aesthetics and exceptional tonal clarity, thanks to its Reflectone pickups, developed with Rupert Neve Designs. The guitar's playability is equally impressive, featuring a silky smooth neck and responsive Gotoh tremolo. However, the challenge lies in shedding the Pacifica's beginner guitar reputation, which may cause hesitation for potential buyers. While it feels like a world-class instrument, some may find the Pacifica name hard to reconcile with the $2,199 price tag. Overall, this guitar offers a compelling blend of quality and innovation, making it a worthy investment for serious players looking to break the mold.

Vintage or Discontinued similar sound

Professional Pacifica series from the 90s. The Yamaha Pacifica 904 is an offset double-cut strat like guitar like the Yamaha Pacifica Professional, was made in Japan and had a US made Warmoth neck. It looks like this guitar has two single coil pickups with a humbucker in the bridge position. The bridge position actually contains two coupled single coil pickups making it a total of 4 Alnico V single coils in this guitar. Hence the 4 in the model name "Pacifica 904". The tone knob doubles as a (push-push) coil tap. The body of the Yamaha Pacifica 904 has a light ash top and the bridge on this guitar is a Yamaha "Vintage Custom" tremolo.
