Critic Reviews

Yamaha SG1820A review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Yamaha SG1820A is a striking Les Paul alternative for modern metal enthusiasts. With its aggressive aesthetics and high-output EMG pickups, this guitar screams power and sustain. Its robust build quality and cool black nickel hardware complement the flawless silverburst finish, making it a visual and sonic statement. However, it might feel heavy and lacks the character found in the P-90-style pickups of its sibling, the SG1802. Ideal for those seeking relentless heavy rock tones, the SG1820A is a formidable choice for musicians who prioritize power over subtlety.

Japanese craftsmanship now with US detailing

Beautifully engineered, feels like a concert grand piano, but merged with US/European sensibilities when it comes to pickups, tailpiece/bridge, nut and tuners - all of which are imported. I love the understated styling of this guitar, however I will be changing the very compressed AMG active pickups for something a little more analogue. organic, soulful in future.
