Wizard of Odd: My Favorite Vintage Japanese Guitar - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

Yamaha's SG-3 is a vintage gem that melds over-engineered craftsmanship with hip 1960s flair. Its design draws from Mosrites and Fender's Jazzmasters, delivering a unique, aggressive sound thanks to its intricate pickup setup. The SG-3's playability is enhanced by a masterful roller-bridge and tremolo system, while its offset body offers a well-balanced feel. However, its complex electronics might daunt some, and its original price tag was steep. Despite a short production run and limited U.S. success, this guitar remains a cult favorite among collectors for its distinctive style and sound.
