Well made Casino at a fair price.

It took me a while to discover that most sounds I like from an electric guitar originated on Casino's. I started looking at hollow-bodies on line and had almost persuaded myself that a Guild Starfire would be the best and cheapest alternative to an elitist, and that I didn't want to trust my cash to the possibility of finding something good on ebay. Then the news came from NAMM about the Gary Clarke Jr model and all my boxes were ticked! I have the Bigsby model and I'm very happy with it. The feedback is controllable and the Blak & Blu finish is very nice in the flesh.

60s Starfires are downright awesome, but nothing like a casino! They're more of an all mahogany 335. the singlecuts with Dearmond pickups from the late 50s might get you close. The Gibson 330/epi casino is really a unique animal. Even the low-cost import ones are still unique if a little light on quality compared to the 60s specimens.

My go-to guitar

Has that big bluesy tone that I want but can really get down with anything.
