The Big Review: Epiphone Inspired By Gibson ES-335 Figured

guitar.com

Epiphone's ES-335 Figured offers a compelling blend of style and playability, boasting striking aesthetics with its flame maple veneer and high-quality finish. The guitar impresses with clear, sensitive pickups, delivering a range of tones from sweet and rounded to vintage bite. However, it falls short of the acoustic character that defines a classic 335, and some minor binding flaws detract from its otherwise polished look. Despite these quirks, it remains a solid choice for players seeking a versatile semi-hollow at a competitive price, making it a worthy addition to Epiphone's Inspired By Gibson line.

Great instrument for an even better price

Being honest, as the time to time player I am, I don't need that many guitars hanging on my wall, one would've been enough for what I do. On the other hand, when I'm playing, I'm switching through all the genres and it's great having your Drop-D metal axe besides your twangy Telecaster for a quick change.

Anyhow, what brought me to playing guitar again, was Gary Clark Jr. and his kind of Blues Rock and that specific sound he creates. And playing this style and turning 40, I told myself - I need another guitar as my birthday present and testing some instruments, the decision was made fast and towards this Epiphone masterpiece of a guitar.

The finish is brilliant, great craftmanship - the frets are perfect, the paint and finish without the slightest error. Tuning this baby and you're ready to go. Big thank you to my guitar dealer as well, as every guitar leaving the house wents through their workshop.

The sound is brilliant - playing clean or high gain, it does exactly what you want. No noises from the pickups, so you can keep them, really no need to change as normally when buying lower priced guitars just to having fun upgrading them. Even playing unplugged is awesome, providing a warm and full tone as you expect.

Normally, I won't give a full 5-star rating (guess we germans always live this way that there's always toom to improve :-) ) but I can't find the slightest thing that bugs me. And believe me, it's not for that bluesy stuff...
