Critic Reviews

Alesis 3632 Compressor review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Alesis 3632 Compressor earns praise for its affordability and versatility, offering notable improvements over its predecessor, the 3630. While it doesn't match high-end compressors in refinement, its budget-friendly price makes it a solid choice for those seeking a no-frills dynamic control tool. Its cleaner, quieter performance and internal power supply add convenience. However, it's not the best pick for transparent dynamic range control or mix buss glue. For those interested in classic pumping sidechain character and basic compression needs, the 3632 stands as a worthy successor to the 3630.

essential for loud, compact and colorful masters

it's a must in my mix/master chain. love it also for sidechain purposes. gives also a bit of nice analog coloring and "french" punch (if you use it wisely). perfect compressor but don't push it too hard!

not a piece of dB-ass

it's a 3630 made to a higher standard with all of the bullshit removed at the factory so you don't have to mod it... can't go wrong. The budget dbx 1066. Replaced my modded 3630s

Improved version of the classic 3630 workhorse compressor

It's not an exceptional sounding, colouring or character compressor but it's dirt cheap, good sounding, very hands-on (with lots of knobs) workhorse compressor. It the updated version of the classic 3630 (supposedly used extensively on Daft Punkt's Home Work debut album) and is better in every way, except it's looks :-)

Truly terrible build quality.

I use this as a dedicated compress for a circuit bent Zoom FX unit. it works, and it preserves my monitors from being flayed to death! :)
