Alesis QuadraSynth (MT Apr 94)

muzines.co.uk

The Alesis QuadraSynth, a bold entry into the synth market, impresses with its sleek design, robust build, and intuitive interface. Featuring 64-voice polyphony, a flexible effects section, and 16MB of sample ROM, it offers musicians ample creative potential. The onboard LCD screen simplifies navigation through its comprehensive editing features, making programming surprisingly accessible. Sound quality is generally strong, though brass and sax patches occasionally miss the mark. However, standout organ and bass sounds shine. While the overall sound selection might benefit from more organization and variety, the QuadraSynth's ease of use and innovative design challenge the status quo, making it a valuable asset for musicians willing to explore its capabilities.

Wierd and wonderfull early rompler powerhouse

I have owned this since the mid-90s. It is a very powerful rompler with four oscillators, built-in D4, and quadraverb 2 effects. It is so deep that I cannot seem to get to the bottom of this beast.

"Although Numan writes all of his music on an aged upright piano, slowly adding effects, synth sounds and big beats, he also works with modern gear: Emagic Logic Audio Platinum and Digidesign Pro Tools on an Apple Mac G4 with two iZ Technology RADAR 24 digital recorders and a Mackie d8b desk. His synths are both soft and hard: Korg Wavestation, Alesis QuadraSynth, Korg M1, Roland D50 LA, GEM S2 Turbo and a Korg electric piano."
