Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about AMT Electronics WH-1 Wah Pedal.

Features and functionality

  • The pedal includes a 3-way switch for selecting treble, middle, or bass-heavy wah ranges, with the middle setting resembling a Crybaby but with a unique tone.

    Source
  • When engaged and held in the forward position, it acts as a high-pass filter, creating an "AM radio" or "telephone" sound.

    Source

    Source
  • The pedal includes two blue indicator LEDs, providing visibility on pedal engagement even in low-light settings.

    Source

Use cases and applications

    Source
  • Suitable for users with limited pedalboard space, offering a narrower footprint without compromising on sound quality.

    Source
  • The frequency selector allows for a less nasal sound, which some players prefer over other well-known wahs like the Fulltone.

    Source

Comparisons

  • Described as more versatile than a Crybaby, offering distinct tonal options not typically found in standard wah pedals.

    Source
  • Compared to the Crybaby 535q, the AMT is noisier and less tweakable, but its compact size and LED indicators are significant advantages.

    Source
  • Owners who switched from the Vox V847 to the AMT WH-1 appreciate its space-saving design, likening its footprint to that of a regular Boss pedal.

    Source

Build quality

  • The pedal's small form factor requires adjustments to find the wah sweep's sweet spot, emphasizing its compact design's unique handling.

Packs a huge punch in a small size. EDIT: Unusable due to flawed design.

When I bought this pedal I expected it to be yet another mediocre low end wah pedal but holy moly color me surprised this little thing packs a serious bang for the buck. It sounds better than VOX and Dunlop wah pedals. If that ain't enough it's also true bypass, it doesn't do any monkey business with your tone when it's off.

It does have its quirks though. First quirk is that it's small even by mini wah standards, heck even a Dunlop Mini Cry Baby is bigger than this little guy. So it takes time to get used to its diminutive size. Second quirk is that it's a springless wah, I've never used a springless wah before, so to me it does feel funny to use.

Edit: This wah is utterly unusable. It's just way too small for real world usage. Due to its size it's almost impossible to control. And here's the deal, a springless wah just doesn't work right. I'm taking off my 2 stars. This wah pedal is outright flawed by design.

felicia506

That's odd, I often use it and I've never faced any problems with its size.

Young lady, I don't want to sound like a condescending prick over here, but I don't think you realize the fact that a man's foot is bigger than a woman's foot. That puny little wah may work right for you dainty lady feet, but it doesn't work right for us men.

felicia506

Sounds good and costs cheap.

It costs cheap, sounds good, has true bypass switching, switchable voicings and it looks cute too. Not to forget it's an optical wah, no worries about the wear and tear of the wah pot with this pedal. That's why it was an obvious choice for me.

Great quality wah

I love the compact size of this wah and it sounds great too.

booij

Nice wah-wah!

I like this wah. Is has a small footprint and feels live a regular wah-pedal. It is a little sensitive though when using the wah-sound. When you press to hard you will accidentally (and easily) turn it off.
