Description
The Aphex 207 Two Channel Tube Microphone Preamplifier is a game-changer for both aspiring musicians and seasoned studio professionals. By integrating the patented Reflected Plate Amplifier and MicLim circuit, Aphex has crafted a preamp that delivers pristine audio quality without the premium price tag of its higher-end counterparts. This dual-channel powerhouse is engineered to manage everything from subtle vocal nuances to robust instrumentals with finesse, making it a versatile tool for any recording setup.
Whether you're capturing vocals, keyboards, bass, or acoustic guitars, the Aphex 207 ensures every detail is preserved, thanks to its innovative mic level limiter. This feature is crucial for controlling transient spikes that could potentially distort your tracks, thus guaranteeing a clean and natural sound. Designed with user-friendly functionality, the Aphex 207 is equipped with front panel instrument inputs, intuitive headroom metering, and clip/limit LED indicators for straightforward monitoring. The unit's universal switch mode power supply means it's ready to perform anytime, anywhere, without the hassle of adjusting settings for different environments.

207....born of 107 + 1100
great pro built unit with great specs. Dual channel Mic Pre & DI Has the Mic-Limiter to prevent clipping ( Aphex1100 $2500 unit) and the DI and 65db gain Mic Preamps. Excellent level meter that allows fine tuning for calibration (send in a Cal Signal) Also has the standard AC cable instead of the wall wart (107).
at 2026 prices $200 its a great deal. I've compared it to my $2000 preamps and it has no problems keeping up.

ugh... i always get this mixed up with the 204
I got one of these as part of a package deal at GC where I bought 2 mics and they basically gave me this... it crapped out in no time. I opened her up thinking it was a tube but it wasn't. The thing is basicall just an electronic preamp fulla ICs with a tube chucked in the signal apth to add some 'color'... I was pretty unimpressed with this thing. Any old mixer or interface preamp will be just as good to your microphones. I think I took this back after it failed and got them to give me a BBE maximizer instead. I worked for a guy who had one of these units in his studio and eh would be like "use the Aphex, don't use my shitty mixer pres" and I was all like "I can't hear any difference and I like the whopping amount of clean gain on the junk mixer pres for ribbons anyway dude! Why plug it in if its not super duper special? Its a waste of time and it might just crap out mid-take."
