Great quality, BRUTAL sound
My go to for anything knarly. The brute factor, despite its name, is far from a gimmick, it's this thing's secret sauce. Rarely do I track anything without at least a touch of it. It can round out and flatten up brittle sounds (especially helpful for processing external sound sources) or go crazy with some wild feedback.
Certainly not super versatile sound, though. Whilst it excels in creating wild, unstable flourishes, I've found it can struggle to create punchy bread-and-butter mono sounds. I think this is solely down to the Steiner Parker filter. Run its oscillator out through the patchbay into a Moog filter and the difference is night-and-day.
The patchbay was the reason I chose it and it hasn't let my down. It's served as the perfect bridge into Eurorack.
Keyboard / sequencer section is incredibly buggy however, sometimes requiring a reboot. This makes it difficult to consider for use in live setups and less than ideal for integration into complex studio setups. The lack of MIDI Thru is a frustrating omission that is basically inexcusable for this price / form factor.

The second generation of Minibrute
I'm not really sure about this one, it's sure well made (Plastic over aluminium on the MB1), fake wood panel on the sides, bigger fader than the MB1.. but it lack some great feature that the MB1 has, like prewire LFOs on the pitch, filter, PWM, amp.. You have to makes patch to get them to work. By my ears, the sounds seems more ''clean'' than the MB1. Cannot replace the MB1 imo, I decided to keep boths. The filter also seems less dirty than the MB1, and this is what i liked the most about the MB1. In other hand, the patchbay is a really great tool for studio use, you can make all sorts of routing and get a large sounds possibilities.
Great
Great sounds, built in sequencer/arpeggiator, patchability. So much functionality in a small package. Very useful as a bass or lead machine, or pair it with other semi-modular gear or Eurorack to use it for sound design or generative patterns. Extremely versatile.
