52 pedals, week 50—Behringer Vintage Distortion VD1

scarebear.org

The Behringer VD1 Vintage Distortion pedal catches attention with its sturdy, oversized metal casing and simple controls (Volume, Tone, Sustain) that mimic a valve amp's natural distortion. It's praised for delivering quality distortion at a budget-friendly price, notably being half the cost of similar pedals, and comes with a three-year warranty. However, the review lacks firsthand testing, leaving the sound experience to be derived from online videos and user reviews. While it’s a compelling option for musicians on a budget, the absence of personal trial leaves room for skepticism on its true performance.

Fanstastic Big Muff style fuzz

Wide variety of sounds, from kinda lower gain overdrive all the way up to the big fat raunchy sounds of the Big Muff. It goes quite close as far as tones go, can be quite shaped using the tone knob. Overall build quality is a bit weaker however, it has survived much of its life being dropped and kicked around so i guess it is good. All in all best bang for the buck.

HARD!

It's a pedal that is no longer manufactured under that name or housing. Now you can find it as the TC Electronic Honey Pot, which is smaller and doesn't take up as much space on your pedalboard. A great alternative to the muff and maybe RAT.

fantastic

The only reason this gets a 4 is due to is size, I understand that it's a Big Muff clone but surely Behringer can size it down a bit!

Anyway it's a very spirited distorion and can be used for every genre. When putting the Tone and Sustain on 10 you get such an amazing punk-fuzz sound.

An amazing price, and amazing sounds. Pretty faultless.

Great tone,low price

I found it in a local music shop and i really liked it,replacing immediately my Boss DS-1 as my main distortion pedal, good memories.

piggy_pop

It was a good pedal

One weird thing about it was that the battery didn't have a place to be set, so it just kind of clanged around inside the pedal.

tom_wiegersma

Big Muff sounds!!

Just a really wooly big sounding monster. I use it to go the extra mile!
