Critic Reviews

Bricasti Design Model 7

soundonsound.com

The Bricasti Design M7 reverb processor is a triumph of algorithmic reverberation, delivering pristine audio quality with minimal fuss. Aimed at high-end studios, it offers a rich, dense sound that integrates seamlessly with dry audio, creating realistic spaces without sounding artificial. While lacking surround capabilities and non-linear effects, its ease of use and exceptional sound quality make it a standout choice. The M7 competes well against pricier rivals, offering high-end performance at a more accessible price. Its intuitive design ensures even complex reverbs are easily achieved, making it a worthwhile investment for professional audio applications.

Bricasti Design: M7 Stereo Reverb Processor | Tape Op Magazine | Longform candid interviews with music producers and audio engineers covering mixing, mastering, recording and music production.

tapeop.com

The Bricasti Design M7 is hailed as a game-changer in reverb processing, transforming mixes with its ability to create believable acoustic spaces. Revered for its realistic depth and versatility, the M7 outshines previous industry staples like the Lexicon and TC Electronic units. It's praised for its simplicity, stunning design, and value, offering professional-quality space for $3695. While the M7 excels in creating lifelike environments, its conventional reverb patches are not as groundbreaking. Nonetheless, the M7 is celebrated as a powerful tool that elevates mixes from demo quality to album-worthy productions, making it an indispensable asset for serious audio engineers.

Review: Bricasti M7 — AudioTechnology

audiotechnology.com

The Bricasti Design M7 emerges as a standout in the world of high-end hardware reverbs, delivering lush, detailed, and realistic soundscapes reminiscent of the revered Lexicon 480L. Its robust build and intuitive controls make it a joy to use, catering to professionals who demand top-tier audio quality. However, the M7's premium price and lack of remote control might deter some potential buyers, and its stereo processing could be limiting for those seeking more versatility. Overall, the M7 is a superb choice for those with the budget to invest in a truly exceptional reverb unit.

BEST REVERB PERIOD

MORE NATURAL AND 3D THAN ANY PLUG IN. THE ANALOG OUTS ARE BETTER THAN THE DIGITAL IMHO. CREATE SPACE EASIER.

According to this Mixonline interview with producer Al Schmitt, an M7 was used for Krall's vocals on Turn Up the Quiet.

“The Neumann U47 sounded fantastic on Diana,” Schmitt says. “It’s my go-to vocal mic, the same one Sinatra used on his Capitol records. I placed it about five or six inches from Diana. I also used a Neve 1073 preamplifier and just a touch of my Fairchild 660 compressor for the warmth of its tubes, compressed a dB or two. I ran Diana’s voice through Capitol Echo Chamber #4, blended with my Bricasti Design [Model 7 Stereo] reverb to get the sound that I want.”
