Great for modification
I purchased this guitar with intent of modification off of Reverb.com. The guitar is MIM, so carries all of the made in Mexico appointments. The neck profile is very slim with a gloss finish. I have kept the tuners stock as of late but have replaced the wing style string try with a vintage style telecaster string tree. The body is non-contoured. Sometimes I miss the contour like found on my Select telecaster, but sometimes I enjoyed the extra chunk to the body. I find it sounds a bit beefier than a contoured body.
I removed the stock wiring harness and pickups and replaced them with an Emerson Custom wiring harness and a set of Porter Pickups Standard Telecaster pickups. By no means was the stock electronics not usable, I just wanted to improve the guitar. I found that the stock electronics were nice and even for any style of playing. They were balanced between twang and beef. However adding the neck electronics gave me that TELE sound. Once you have that telecaster sound you know you have it and this guitar has it. I have found that with the modifications done to this guitar, I have a guitar that rivals my Select Telecaster in sound but is not as risky to play. This guitar is played out while the Select stays at home.
I would like to change the stock bridge on this guitar due to the fact that string breaks are more common on this guitar than the other two. A Mastery Bridge is highly possible. I also would prefer Fender's vintage style tuners rather than the Mexican standard tuners just for ease of maintenance and I've found that the vintage tuners stay in tune much better.
