"Barney Kessel, probaby '54 or '55. This one he was playing in the set but he's not really playing it now. He's used it on 'I Just Want to Make Love To You', 'Muddy Water' so of course it's okay," says Mike Campbell's guitar tech about the Barney Kessel 1954 Electric Guitar.

Do you still have that killer ’50s Barney Kessel Kay with the Kelvinator headstock?

Yes. It’s one of my favorite things. I heard that Barney Kessel, who is one of my favorite guitar players, didn’t like it. I can kinda understand that. You like what you like, you know. And you can have five guitars that look the same, but one of ’em’s gonna work and the other four won’t.Some of them can speak to you and bark better, you know what I mean?

For our first three records I only used the Lag acoustics. For our latest record I started to use a 1957 blonde Kay Barney Kessel electric guitar. The Barney Kessel pickups have a really unique fat warm tone I love.
