Description

This dark legend has been told for thousands of years. An old creature, full of grief and malice, it will bring destruction and terror over tracts of the land. Feel the fear and the destructive energy of that ancient monster, with the WURM.

KMA Audio Machines brings you the legendary distortion sound from the out of production Boss HM2 MIJ pedal. Its sound was a key element of the Swedish chainsaw metal, invented by Bands like Dismember and Entombed.

Taking the essential ingredients of this classic, while in the process developing a way more flexible metal-distortion pedal, we kept the classic active EQ section and added two more bands, giving a much wider range of tones to tailor your evil and gritty distortion sound. Each band has an internal trim-pot to change the centre frequency and fine-tune your tone. To switch between the original HM2 high control and our own designed WURM mid-band, we added internal DIP switches for even more tonal variations. Activating Switch 1 alone selects the WURM high-mids mode. To get the classic HM2 ‘chainsaw’ high-mids character however, put switch 1 in the off position and switch 2 to on, crank the LOWS and the HIGH MIDS and rip that Swedish forest to shreds. Activating both switch 1 and 2 together though gives you three bands, which are controllable via the HIGH MIDS control. TERROR dials in the malice and the evil distortion sound you are searching for! Crank it up and you will feel the rage of the ancient WURM.

Powered by an optional standard 9V-18V DC PSU (negative center, 2.1mm, approx. 10mA current draw)

Every pedal is designed, assembled, silkscreened, tested and numbered by hand in our small workshop. We use doublesided PCBs which are designed, tested and assembled by ourselfs, to guarantee a high quality standard and keep the price of our pedals reasonable. The use of an indestructible powdercoated die-cast enclosure ensures a maximum durability.

KMA Machines Wurm review on pedal-of-the-day.com

pedal-of-the-day.com

KMA Machines’ Wurm Distortion pedal channels the iconic HM2 Heavy Metal sound while adding a modern twist that delights. Its extensive EQ controls allow for precise tonal adjustments, making it versatile for various setups. The internal trimpots and dip switches provide even deeper customization, catering to discerning players. However, its aggressive sound may not suit everyone, and those seeking subtler tones might find it overwhelming. If you’re after a pedal that delivers ferocity and character, the Wurm could be your weapon of choice. Just be ready to embrace its loud, chaotic nature!

swedish death metal in a box

Swedish death metal of the early 90’s had a distinct guitar sound that can be described as muddy and brutal as hell. Lower mids growl through extreme amounts of distortion. Bands like Entombed, Dismember or Grave abused the original BOSS HM2, a pedal that works best in front of an power amp and some added gain on top. This Wurm-pedal here is a basically a boutique rebuild of the HM2 but with added equalizer-features and broader frequency response. And it works just as the original but with more accurate tweaking capabilities. If your willing to emulate the old Death Metal sound you will sure find it with this one.
