Description

The Delia Modern Hybrid Poly Synth by Melbourne Instruments

The Melbourne Instruments Delia is a modern hybrid polysynth that merges a digital sound engine with true analog filtering to deliver both flexibility and warmth. Its standout feature is the fully motorized control panel, allowing instant patch recall and dynamic parameter morphing, giving it a uniquely tactile workflow. Designed as a bi-timbral, 12-voice instrument, it enables complex layering, splits, and evolving soundscapes without sacrificing polyphony. Delia combines virtual analog oscillators, wavetable synthesis, and advanced modulation with rich analog ladder filters and overdrive. With features like A/B morphing, a deep modulation matrix, and a built-in sequencer/phrase looper, it bridges the gap between software power and hardware immediacy.

Specs:

• 12-voice polyphony (bi-timbral architecture)
• Hybrid design: digital oscillators + true analog filters
• 4 oscillators per voice (VA, wavetable, noise/aux + macro oscillator mode)

Melbourne Instruments Delia

soundonsound.com

Melbourne Instruments' Delia Polysynth is a bold step forward, blending digital and analog with a sleek design and improved motorized knobs that enhance user experience. While it impresses with its flexibility, depth, and attention to detail, the Delia's high-pass filter feels a bit lackluster compared to its vivid low-pass counterpart. Still, its streamlined design and reasonable pricing make it a standout hybrid synth that balances innovation with practicality, offering exceptional value in a competitive market.

Review: Melbourne Instruments DELIA

mixdownmag.com.au

Melbourne Instruments' Delia is a synth marvel, marrying analog warmth with digital precision. The motorized encoders and extensive modulation matrix offer a tactile, intuitive experience, while the six-voice polyphony and 12-note mode expand creative horizons. Its filters deliver rich, full-bodied sounds, and the morphing capabilities add a dynamic edge. Though priced steeply, Delia is a playground for sound designers, offering vast sonic possibilities. A standout in hybrid synthesis.
