Thunderous Octave Versatility in a Box

The Argo from Mythos Pedals packs quite a punch. At first glance, we were impressed by its attractive Zeus artwork and solid build quality. What really got us excited was to dig in and play with this pedal that is based off the famous Prescription Electronics COB (Clean Octave Blend).

The controls are straightforward and easy to dial in, even for beginners. We particularly appreciated the blend control, which allows for fine-tuning the effect-to-dry signal ratio and sets the pedal apart from others in the category. This feature adds versatility that shines through in the pedal's sound, capable of producing everything from a subtle boost to full-on fuzz mayhem.

For us, the sound quality was where this pedal truly excelled. We found it to be one of the best sounding octave fuzz pedals we've encountered. It's musical and adaptable, working well with various amps and pickups. We were impressed by how it handled chords better than many other octave fuzz pedals we've tried.

However, it's not without its quirks. We noticed it requires playing at higher volumes to truly shine, and there's no option to turn off the octave effect. Additionally, the lack of a battery option and its sensitivity to power supply quality might be deal-breakers for some.

In our opinion, this pedal would be a great fit for guitarists looking for a versatile fuzz with octave capabilities, especially those who enjoy experimenting with their tone. It sounded best while playing our Stratocaster up high on the neck, which is where most vintage style octave pedals shine. However, players who prefer a more traditional (non-octave) vintage fuzz sound or those who need battery power might want to look elsewhere.

Great Octavia for that Hendrix sound

This pedal nails the Octavia sound and then some. The blend knob is very useful to be able to add just a bit of the effect into a fuzz or overdrive, maintaining the clarity for chords intact.
