Great controller, but discontinued

Pros: - Intuitive layout - Lot of info displayed on the screens - You can browse/select tracks without having to use the mouse/trackpad (library organization is key though) - Great for track and remix deck mixing. Wouldn't recommend it for Stem Deck mixing.

Cons: - Discontinued which means lack of support. - If you're browsing your library on one of the decks, the FX controls above the deck are disabled until you load a track or exit the browsing screen. I had to compensate this by using a separate X1 controller for my global Filter & Delay (FX 3 & 4). - The touchstrip is very sensitive and it can detect the lightest touch. I wish there was a button or setting to disengage/engage the touchstrip. - It was designed before Traktor Pro 3 (which introduced the FX knob that replaced Filter knob). If you want to be able to switch FX types, you will need to do some tweaking to the MIDI mapping or use a 2nd controller.

Final Comments: I've owned my S5 for about 3-4 years now and it held up quite well. The lack of jogwheels felt strange at first, but it forced me to properly cue my tracks and made me more proficient with beatjumping. I highly recommend this for beginners and advanced Traktor users who are looking for a solid, mid-priced controller. The new S4 is future-proof, but if you're looking for a deal you may find a pre-owned unit for cheap.

Very intuitive

A very fun and intuitive DJ board, but not helpful in teaching new DJ's what to expect at gigs where they aren't allowed to bring their own equipment.

The Ultimate Controller For Traktor...

...If you don't have enough money and space for an S8. NIs Traktor S5 is a high quality, easy to use Controller that comes with great functions and a built-in audio interface. Nothing to criticize here, that is worth mentioning.
