Description

The C15 is a keyboard instrument made for performing musicians. Its character stems from a puristic digital engine which produces a unique palette of sounds seamlessly spanning from organic and acoustic to experimental and electronic.

With its top-quality keybed, dual full-length ribbons, special pitch bender, and four pedal connections the C15 is designed for real-time performance, making it more like a traditional musical instrument than a typical synthesizer. It is resolutely an instrument to be played by musicians, not machines. Therefore it has no MIDI and does not contain LFOs or internal sequencers.

Nonlinear Labs C15

soundonsound.com

The Nonlinear Labs C15 synthesizer breaks the mold with its unique Phase 22 synthesis engine, delivering a complex sound design experience that stands out in a crowded market. Its innovative dual-unit design and extensive modulation capabilities make it a playground for sound designers. However, the steep learning curve may leave less experienced users frustrated as achieving desirable sounds can require significant time and effort. Some issues with pedal functionality further complicate usability, but the overall sonic richness and versatility make it a compelling choice for adventurous musicians.

Nonlinear Labs C15

soundonsound.com

The Nonlinear Labs C15 is a unique synthesizer that delivers remarkable sounds but comes with significant limitations. While its design and playability are commendable, the complex programming interface and lack of MIDI integration may deter many musicians. It excels in creating innovative tones but lacks lush sounds and conventional modulation options. The promise of future upgrades is a silver lining, but potential buyers should be aware of its steep price and the need for a steep learning curve. Ultimately, the C15 is a niche instrument that will appeal to some while leaving others longing for more versatility.

Nonlinear Labs C15 Review – €4000 for two sine waves? How C15’s elegant synth engine works – Loopop

loopopmusic.com

The Nonlinear Labs C15 is an intriguing boutique synth that pushes the boundaries of sound design with its innovative modulation capabilities and diverse synthesis methods. Its unique hardware controls and elegant synth engine offer a playground for creativity, catering to those who love to experiment. However, the steep learning curve and somewhat convoluted interface may deter less experienced users. While the C15 excels in producing complex and rich textures, its usability can feel overwhelming at times. Overall, it’s a powerful tool for adventurous musicians, but it may not be the most accessible option for everyone.

Greatest digital synth on the market

This is truly a musical instrument, super expressive, amazing sound quality and a unique programming concept. Doesn't have midi or any other way to sequence or sync it though, unless you program a robot to play it. According to the founder of Nonlinear Labs he wanted to build an instrument specifically designed for skilled musicians, not another show off item for the average dj/producer/influencer. This synth really changed my opinion about FM synthesis and digital synths in general, every element in the synth engine is parameterized and can be assign to four super expressive control layers. Despite this high complexity it is still quite easy and great fun to program. In my eyes and ears the C15 is unrivalled and a dream instrument for every skilled keyboardist. Highly recommended!!

"My setup is centered around a Cubase10/Win10 system. This is the hub that everything else is connected to. For audio AD/DA is am using BURL converters.

On the software side, using a lot of UAD, FabFilter, PSP and Soundtoys plugs. With libraries, sticking to Heavyocity (of course;) VSL, Orchestral Tools, 8dio, Spitfire, Arturia, NI, U-He, Omnisphere.

Hardware: Arturia controllers and MatrixBrute, NonlinearLabs C15 and an arsenal of vintage boxes I keep around for good company (ARP, Oberheim, Moog)"
