Pioneer DDJ-SB Serato DJ Controller Review – DJBooth

djbooth.net

The Pioneer DDJ-SB Serato DJ Controller is a solid starter option for budding DJs, offering a compact design and intuitive layout that mirrors its pricier siblings. With features like aluminum-top jog wheels, 16 performance pads, and the unique Filter Fade mode, it provides ample creative potential at an affordable price. However, its plastic construction feels less robust, and the lack of gain knobs and volume meters could be limiting for precision mixing. Overall, it's a capable entry-level controller, especially for those who prioritize portability and ease of setup.

Great for beginners and professionals BUT has downsides

Pros In regards to beginners this controller is great! It comes with a handy manual, is easy to set up, just set up the software plug in and you're ready to go. It comes at a descent price, has limited effects but why do you need effects when your just starting, first master the basics then move on to the effects. Once you master the basics then you can upgrade to serato dj.

The ddj sb is also great for professionals, its not heavy so you can basically take it anywhere, from a small house party to and underground rave if you're the kind of dj that likes to stick with your own equipment.

Cons When it comes to ddj sb the only slight bad thing i found was the beat matching, in fact i found out that it had nothing to do with the product it self but the software. The ddj sb comes with the intro version of serato, when mixing and beat matching the tempo sliders are smooth but the software is not often accurate and so you're forced to use the sync button (which I'm highly against).

Overall, the controller is great! Its just the intro software that lets it down.

Good starter set

This set is a good alternative for starters. Affordable and controls Serato DJ properly. Actually I like Serato DJ with any controller so this becomes a good alternative since it runs with Serato DJ. Hardware has a cheap feel but you don't need a great feel when you start learning DJing. You can't go wrong with this if you are new to DJing.

ukatomusic

Very, very affordable and great for first starters.

A very, very nice controller. It is very affordable and easy to use for any beginner! I highly recommend this to someone that is getting started with Djing.

Great for Beginners

Back when I first started this thing was with me for all my gigs and it has never let me down. Still occasionally use it to record simple mixes. They improved the small flaws with the second version of it.

I love it, the only con is the sb2 exist!

My first controller. Solid build. Has worn well. Still looks good despite use. Despite not having gain an d the lights of the sb2, It is very capable. I am not itching to save for the sb2
