An instant favourite
Much like with MD, I was expecting something nice right off the bat. While C700 exists, you need to prepare samples for it in advance (seeing as the Super Nintendo is sample-based) at low sample rates and stuff, and it was quite cumbersome. With chipsynth SFC, you just load in a sample, turn a knob to downsample it enough to your liking, and then get to it. Loops are super duper easy to set up too, with crossfades - unlike C700 whose process was hell.
Everything you'd expect is here - the famous echo (that sounds like a spring reverb), noise modes and even FM (which yes, is a feature on the original too).
It even comes with a player for SPC files, which you can use to rip samples out from, or echo settings, or whatever you desire. It's really cool and well designed overall. I'd totally recommend this (and it's only $40 to boot). The dedication and enthusiasm shows heavily.

@melonadem I was demoing this over the weekend, after listening to way too much @plasmariel. Have any problems popped up since you wrote this review, or still smooth sailing? I was unable to get the demo version to play .sfc files, disappointingly; it only seemed to like .spc and .zip collections.

@pkennethk yeah it won't play .SFC files as those are snes ROM files that contain a whole game inside rather than just a track (or soundtrack collection) that you'd get with .SPC files
I haven't run into any kinds of issues since the review, so it's been smooth sailing since. I will say the purchasing process itself was quite cumbersome though, sadly I kinda forgot how it went by so I can't really describe it with words, only with memories, and those memories are faded. I don't remember if I mentioned this in the MD review or not, but it is what it is either way.

Thanks @melonadem! I've purchased from Plogue before. I'm ready for that part.
