Rocktron Hush IICX

soundonsound.com

The Rocktron Hush IICX offers cost-effective noise reduction, particularly for well-recorded individual tracks like electric guitars or synths. Its ease of use and ability to improve noise levels during pauses are commendable. However, its performance falls short of pricier competitors like Symetrix and Drawmer, and it struggles with significant noise, risking high-end loss and noise pumping if not carefully set. While it effectively silences starts and ends of tracks, it only slightly reduces hiss during playback without compromising sound quality. Ideal for subtle noise polishing, it’s a bargain if you acknowledge its limitations.

The only noise reduction system on the planet that actually works.

I tried virtually every noise reduction and gate system ever made back in the 1980's and nothing worked at all. If a pedal actually gated noise it left my gain reduced to Fender levels and killed my sustain and feedback. Only Rocktron stopped the noise and left my super high gain intact and allowed me to control my feedback from anywhere on stage.

good reliable unit

I've seen rig rundowns where an artist insisted on three noisegates. With BOSS ME 50, I have at least two. I play Cascading OD at low volumes.
