Paul Kalkbrenner uses a custom Sherman Rodec Restyler stereo analog filter, as seen in his "Studiosession #2" video at the 2:24 mark. The device is positioned right above the FX pedals. This information is confirmed by the video published by Paul Kalkbrenner on YouTube.
"Well one of my favorite things to do is this filter treatment. [Gestures to the Rodec / Sherman Restyler] You know the Sherman filter? It's like a 19-inch Belgian device, very famous for distorting everything, like a noisy sound. That came out a couple of years ago with this little device. It's actually on the market as a DJ tool, but I don't understand—I think it's a beast. You need to master it incredibly to be able to use it in a DJ context because it's so powerful," says San Soda, in this interview.
