Description
Thanks to the generosity of Claes Johanson (owner of Vember Audio), Surge has been open sourced and lives on GitHub, and is now supported by a community of volunteer open source developers, designers, testers, musicians, synthesizer enthusiasts, and content creators.
Featuring many synthesis techniques, a great selection of filters, a flexible modulation engine, a smorgasbord of effects, and modern features like MPE and microtuning.
Surge is a wonderful tool. We love it. We think you will, too!

Nick Mira can be seen using the Surge XT, in this Twitch video of Nick Mira performing at Twich Nick Mira, The Surge XT can be seen at 00:43:57 into the video
In a production masterclass from around 2010, Lorn explicitly states that Surge is the "biggest" synth he uses, clearly mentioned and displayed at 11:52. This information is documented in a video provided by The Arkanist on YouTube titled "LORN Production Masterclass (2010/2012 era)."
At :49s in this video, Black Sun Empire says "I don’t know if you guys know this because it’s not the most famous plugin like Massive, that’s probably the most famous - it’s interesting, it’s fairly simple, and to be honest all of these king of plug-ins are sort of similar." The on-screen plug-in shown is the Vember Audio Surge.
My favourite plugins would be the FM8, Surge, Synth1, Trash2, Kjaerhus classic, the waves API 2500 compressor, superior drummer, Drumatic 4, everything Fabfilter offers and of course Camelphat.
In an interview with Sonic Academy Pierce goes on to say "I've been using Surge a lot..and that's really good for fundamental synthesizer noises..."
