Critic Reviews

RME Fireface UFX

soundonsound.com

The RME Fireface UFX is a powerhouse audio interface that impresses with its versatile functionality, excellent sound quality, and robust feature set. Its combination of USB and Firewire connectivity ensures compatibility with a wide range of systems, while RME's reliable drivers and low-latency performance stand out. Users will appreciate the built-in DSP processing, comprehensive I/O options, and intuitive TotalMix FX software, which rivals some full-function DAWs. The interface shines with clear, detailed audio and flexible routing capabilities. However, the small display and limited number of mic preamps might be a drawback for some. Despite these minor issues, the UFX is a standout choice for those seeking a future-proof, high-quality multi-channel interface.

The RME Fireface UFX impresses with its unmatched flexibility, high-quality AD/DA conversion, and robust standalone operation in a compact 1U rackmount. While its stunning routing options and DSP capabilities can be overwhelming, the TotalMix software provides comprehensive control. Reliable, flexible and great sounding interface

Just a really incredibly good interface, that has remained in my studio since it came out. Preamps are clean and neutral, and the AD/DA stages still hold up nicely. TotalMix FX and the drivers are an invaluable set of professional tools that give this unit wonderful versatility. The provision of DuRec for recording your IO is also a major win, and was probably the tipping point for my initial purchase, before I realised the benefits of its other features.

The relatively recent introduction of TotalMix FX for iOS make the interface a great portable mixer and recorder in conjunction with an iPad.

Amazing clean sounding audio interface!

I am a fan of RME, as they don't seem to colour the sound and they give a very workable clean signal at a reasonable realistic price point. The drivers are rock solid, I never had an issue with restarting it or any other strange noises coming through.

akakingj

My main audio interface.

I used Apogee Ensemble Firewire. but It's not support New OSX. So I bought RME UFX. It's very clean sound.

beatdriver408

Best drivers, totalFX is great. DUREC can be a lifesaver.

Rock solid, pro quality interface. Drivers matter. www.dawbench.net for more information.

When I bought myself a new sound card two years ago I thought about buying a small one or just something bigger. I knew I wouldn’t use all the functions immediately but I knew as well that I wouldn’t regret buying it. Beside the fact that I have been always in love with RME – you just plug it in and can start to work and it never (and I mean never) disappoints you. I am now using a lot of slots I couldn’t get with a smaller interface. There is just no other brand with such an amazing price to performance ratio. Highly recommended.
