Cronos used his reliable Acoustic 220 bass amplifier, paired with a couple of 4x12 cabinets, as mentioned in the Ultimate Guitar interview titled "Venom: The Only Black Metal Band!" This setup likely contributed to the iconic sound of Venom's "Welcome to Hell" and "Black Metal" albums. While he probably used Marshalls for live performances in the 80s, the Acoustic 220 was crucial for studio recordings, potentially enhanced with distortion pedals.
Photo by Kevin Blyth of Tracy Pew playing in The BIRTHDAY PARTY live in 1980 at the Paddington Green Hotel, Sydney. Tracy is playing a white Fender Jazz Bass with a maple neck with white block markers (purchased new in possibly 1978). The bass amp head is an ACOUSTIC 220.
The old classic Rob sound was an Acoustic 220 through a 1x15 and a 4x10. He drove this hard for a long time and it eventually gave up. I think there was another Acoustic for 0+2=1 but it wasn't as good a sound. You can see the original setup in the Live & Cuddly videos
