Great Pros but Sucky Cons
This laptop is my daily driver for music but it fucking sucks ass that there aren't any port on this shit. To use my usual setup I need 5 adapters or "dongles" to use it. USB C is super good but I'll take convenience over a lighter laptop. But this is an amazingly fast and responsive computer. The screen is bright and crispy af. I personally would go with the 2015 15" Macbook Pro because ports are very important when you produce on a laptop.

Mac v PC: We all pick a side... if you choose Mac, there is no better or more powerful option than MBP, retina for flair too.
If you already know Mac Operating systems like most of us do, than this will likely be one of the smoothest, fastest, and functional laptops you have ever worked with. Although there is constant desire for more i/o ports and options, and some antiquated people a bit hurt about the disbanding of the super drive, but having dual thunderbolt, and dual usb 3.0 is hard to complain about. Oh yeah, and the retina display is absolutely gorgeous no denying it.
Downsides? EXPENSIVE, very expensive. Becareful with that beautiful new screen too, because replacing it out of coverage will cost you a cool $700 or so... Also the flash memory HD is extra expensive, i opted for the 512gb because you gotta go big or go home.
Treat it like your child, at $2,499 this machine is no toy.

A versatile powerhouse for work, school, and entertainment
Without my Apple MacBook Pro I wouldn't be accomplishing as much as I do now. This computer is a beast. I use it for school, work and also some entertainment. The Apple MacBook Pro is very strong, robust computer with a very fast processor, friendly navigation and excellent graphics. I take my MacBook Pro everywhere I go simply because I' m always using it. I recently converted to Mac and I don't plan to go back anywhere else, anytime soon!

I love it!
I absolutely love my MacBook Pro. It's small, light, and portable. I even took it with me on a tour to Afghanistan and it held up through the entire deployment. It's great for processing photos from my SLR in lightroom, I can sketch quick and easily in CoralDraw, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and of course I can produce music quickly and efficiently in Logic Pro X! Does everything I need it to and then some!

Apple has worked great 4 16+ years. PC guy? They can rule too.
I was "forced" to switch as that was the industry standard, Jesus, 2 decades ago? So I switched & never looked back. I wish I had the savings that you PC users do, but for me? Too old to bother with introducing a huge variable into my work flow. It works for me, not a single crash of any significance in nearly 2 decades...oh yeah, no defragmentation required. So A+
Great Computer
Love this Computer very fast great for producing on the road but only thing is that it gets too hot easly

It's Apple
Honestly, I hate using this thing. ALMOST every time I try to do anything it usually crashes. Only reason why I have it is for Logic Pro X. Which loves to crash a lot too. Thanks Apple for selling over priced dog-shit. Keep staying in the past.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
My advice, turning off, slam it on table, and chuck it out the window.
Works good for the age
Mine is a mid 2010 Macbook Pro. I don't really use it when I am in my home studio however I always take it out for me because it still runs both my DAW's just fine and whenever I am out and about and have an idea on me I just just open it up and do what I need to do with ease. It is a little slow but it gets the job done.

Holds up pretty well
Even after 4 years of using nonstop, it's still holding up really well. Runs the newest version of Logic Pro X with all my plugins including Serum, Tonebridge, and Nexus with little to no problems. Although I do have to say the speakers have lost their sound quality over the years.

A reliable companion for music production despite alternatives
You do NOT need a Mac to make music! That said, this machine's been with me to Hell and back, and it's earned its stripes and recouped expenses by far.

Throw the retina model on your Want list, when the time comes sell your MBP on eBay (it holds its value provided you didn't decimate it), that's what I did :) Seriously though, retina display is night and day, much lighter, battery life is amazeballs, and it doesn't heat to surface of the sun levels. Only issue is several music apps haven't optimized for the retina display, so watch out for that...

True. I don't mean to knock the Macbook Pro in and of itself, I just hate this idea people get that they "need" one. The Macbook Pro isn't the only option, but it IS a great one if you can afford the barrier to entry (price)!
