Review of the Mexican Fender Standard Jazz Bass - HubPages

hubpages.com

The Fender MIM Jazz Bass delivers impressive value, offering genuine Fender quality at a more affordable price point. Musicians from hobbyists to professionals will appreciate its capable sound and solid construction. While the MIM lacks the refined craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology of its American counterpart, it still holds its own with good pickups and a comfortable neck. Some may choose to upgrade the pickups for enhanced tone, but even stock, it provides excellent gigging and practice capabilities. Despite a few potential quality control inconsistencies, the MIM Jazz Bass remains a top choice for those seeking a reliable and versatile instrument without breaking the bank.

Thumpa thumpa thump

I'm not a bass player so ignore everything I have to say about this.

As a guitarist and synth player, this jazz bass doesn't sound super jazzy. But I don't play jazz so that's a plus in my book.

I tell you what it does sound like. It sounds like punk. it also sounds like post punk. I also sounds like old metal and psychedelic. I tell you It sounds amazing, It plays amazing.

Play it with your fingers and it has a nice round thumpy warm woody tone. Play it with a pick and it has a nice attack with a round gnarly growley tone. Play it fast and it sounds good. Play it slow and it sounds good.

It has two pickups and they both sound good. I can't say I love both pickups mixed, but one or the other depending on my mood are just the ticket.

It has a heft to it. Like a battle axe or a war hammer. You could probably defend your home with this if necessary.
