Description
Channel the spirit of rockabilly legends with the Gretsch G6120SH Brian Setzer Hot Rod. This semi-hollowbody electric guitar is a tribute to Brian Setzer’s dynamic style, offering an instrument that’s as vibrant and bold as his music. Crafted with a laminated maple top, back, and sides, it delivers that classic hollowbody tone guitarists crave. The two-piece maple neck is topped with a bound ebony fretboard, complete with Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays for a smooth playing experience.
At the heart of this guitar are the TV Jones Brian Setzer Signature pickups, designed to echo the iconic sound of Gretsch guitars from the '50s and '60s. These pickups offer a bright, open sound with a touch of that rockabilly bite, making it a versatile choice for rock, blues, country, and beyond. Adding to its vintage appeal, the Bigsby B6C vibrato tailpiece allows for smooth bends and expressive vibrato, enhancing your performance with a touch of retro flair.
Designed to Brian's exacting specifications, the G6120SH is not just about sound, but also about playability and reliability. The Schaller locking tuners and pinned Adjusto-Matic bridge ensure stable tuning and precise intonation, so you can focus on what really matters: making music.

Fantastic instrument
The first time I saw a Brian Setzer signature model, it was the one on the back cover of the first BSO cd back in 1996. I have wanted a blue version of his instrument since. The Hot Rod isn't exactly the same (no dice knobs, etc.), but that's ok, because it still has a maple top, and plays as good as my Player's Edition Tennessee Rose

This Gretsch Brian Setzer 6120-SH Purple is part of the private collection of J Mascis.
Gretsch Brian Setzer Hot Rod Models are stripped down and built to Brian’s exacting specs. The single-cutaway bound hollow body has an arched top and f-holes; the maple neck has a bound ebony fingerboard with Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays. Other features include dual Brian Setzer "Signature" TV Jones pickups, three-position pickup switch, single master volume control, Schaller locking tuners, pinned Adjusto-Matic bridge and Bigsby B6C vibrato tailpiece.
If you haven't noticed a theme by now, J loves the color purple. This is a pretty excellent lightly used Gretsch in a rare purple variant. Plays excellently. One small notch on the side near the lower horn. During testing we experienced a some scratchy tone switching the pickup to the bridge position. After some toggling, this went away.
Ships in an OHSC which still has the tags.
