fuzz face clone

a Friend of mine got one of these for peanuts at a guitar show and we couldn't get it to make a fuzz sound. It was laid out just like a fuzz face but it was wired up wrong so it just passed a clean boost LOL. I figured they were all this way and that's why no one had heard of this Fuzz Face copy. I alter scored one that DID make fuzz. It very much sounded like a the Fuzz Face it was copied from. Pretty much an early Arbiter with Japanese parts. I alter found out from Analog Man that these were made by Guyatone... wow! Guyatone's first pedal as far as I know. These can give you a nice vintage fuzz face sound on the cheap, but beware getting on that's wired wrong. Try before you buy if the asking price is more than $50

That’s an old Guyatone fuzz—I’ve got it right here in front of me. It’s called a Crazy Face. It’s a really early one with this beautiful Hammerite green Fuzz Face-looking cover. I used that along with my ’57 Tele through a Supro 1620 combo.
