Description

Tubedreamer mk.2

The overdrive all tubes dream of.

When we introduced the Tubedreamer in 2006, our goal was to build the best 808-style overdrive.

That’s what we built then, and what we’ve pushed further with the mk.2.

The Tubedreamer mk.2 delivers a warm, rich, and articulate overdrive, with a carefully tuned midrange that cuts through a mix without ever sounding congested or harsh.

Improved control where it matters

The mk.2 features improved low-gain resolution, providing finer control and unlocking a wider range of usable tones at lower gain settings.

Clipping options

At its core, the Tubedreamer retains the JRC4558D chip, just like the most sought-after vintage units.

A 3-diode asymmetrical clipping stage enhances touch sensitivity, responding naturally to picking dynamics and fretting nuances.

A no-diode clipping mode removes diode clipping, delivering a more open, dynamic, and amp-like response with increased headroom and clarity.

High-gain stage

A dedicated HIGH GAIN footswitch gives access to an additional gain stage, making the Tubedreamer mk.2 suitable for performance use.

Dual internal trimmers provide independent output level control for the high-gain stage in each clipping mode, allowing precise level matching or boosting.

Startup state

The Tubedreamer mk.2 allows you to define the startup state for both the effect and the high-gain stage.

By default, the pedal powers up with both disengaged, but any combination of on/off states can be selected.

JAM Pedals TubeDreamer MK2: More Tube Screamer than a Tube Screamer? - gearnews.com

gearnews.com

With the TubeDreamer MK2, JAM Pedals takes a beloved classic and injects a fresh dose of versatility. By adding a second footswitch for high gain mode and an internal trimmer for volume adjustments, they've made switching between tones a breeze. The pedal still boasts the revered JRC4558D chip, offering vintage charm with a modern twist. The new mini-switch for clipping modes further enhances its dynamic range, providing both a compressed sound and an open, amp-like response. While the price might make you pause, the MK2's upgrades mark it as a top contender in the realm of TS-style pedals. A must-try for overdrive enthusiasts seeking both classic and contemporary tones.

New Pedal: Jam Pedals Tubedreamer MK2 | Delicious Audio

delicious-audio.com

JAM Pedals shakes up the Tube Screamer formula with the Tubedreamer Mk2, adding brave innovations like a switch that bypasses the clipping stage for a raw, cranked-amp overdrive. The redesigned gain knob offers smooth transitions from clean boosts to sizzling leads, unlike any traditional screamer. While retaining the iconic mid-hump, the Mk2's dynamic response and touch sensitivity make it a stellar update. A dedicated footswitch for instant high-gain saturation makes it a gig-ready choice, but those seeking complex controls might find it too straightforward. Overall, it's a refreshing take on a classic, proving there's life in the old circuit yet.

Beyond The Mid-Hump: JAM Pedals Tubedreamer Mk.2 Review - Guitar Bomb

guitarbomb.com

The JAM Pedals Tubedreamer Mk.2 isn't just another Tube Screamer clone; it's a refreshing take on a classic. It addresses the common complaints of the original—like the mid-range hump and bass loss—while maintaining the vintage charm with its JRC4558D chip. The pedal shines with its innovative clipping modes, offering both a harmonically rich asymmetrical mode and a high-headroom no-diode option. With a redesigned gain control and a dual-channel feature, it excels in versatility, although its £249 price tag and tedious backplate adjustments might deter some. Overall, it's a stellar, gig-ready pedal that redefines what an overdrive can offer.
