Description

Squeezer 2 VCA compressor New dynamics and density of sound with crystal clarity and transparency The second stage of the evolution of the JEK VCA compressor. Combines the best features of the first version, but has more control over the sound. The sound quality has been improved, the design of the internal device has been thought out more carefully. At the same time, the pedal is still reliable and easy to operate. About the device Squeezer 2 has all the capabilities and all the best features of the first version. As it turned out, a set of four control knobs - Gain, Mix, Threshold, Ratio - is a close to optimal balance between simplicity and functionality, so here you can still adjust the device using only these knobs. For those who find this insufficient, by switching the toggle switch, the compressor can be switched to an advanced mode of manual attack and release adjustment. The compressor has the ability to adjust the knee (Knee), this setting is available inside the device. In addition, there is the ability to control compression with an external signal source (line or microphone level, the corresponding setting is also inside). To access the internal settings, you need to remove the pedal cover by unscrewing four screws. Compared to the first version, the sound quality has been improved - the sound has become even cleaner and more transparent, the pedal has become even quieter, power protection and smooth compression indication have been added, and higher-quality components have been selected. universal compressor for any instrument Squeezer is designed for use with a guitar or bass, but practice has shown that its scope of application can be wider. This compressor can be suitable for everything - vocals, synths, saxophone, etc. It is quite neutral, works quickly and unnoticeably. Control compression with an external signal Squeezer 2 allows you to connect an external signal source that will control the volume of your instrument. The higher the level of this signal, the quieter your instrument will be. This can be used to eliminate conflicts between two sound sources. For example, you can take a signal from a vocal microphone and then your instrument will automatically sound quieter when the vocals are playing. When an external signal is connected, all compressor settings retain their work and affect the result. Controls Threshold Compression threshold. Sets the minimum signal level to which the compressor begins to react. The extreme counterclockwise position of the knob sets the lowest level - the compressor is in the most sensitive mode. Ratio Compression ratio. Determines the strength of compression and is the ratio of the input signal level to the output signal level. From 1:1 to ∞:1. This knob has a non-linear scale, in the middle position the compression is approximately 3:1. Gain The volume of the compressed signal. The compressor works by reducing the volume of the signal exceeding the threshold level. The Gain knob is used to restore the drop in volume after the compressor has worked. After the compressed signal has been amplified, it goes to the Mix knob. Mix Mixes the clean and compressed signal. In the minimum position (fully counter-clockwise) it produces a clean signal without compression, which roughly corresponds to the bypass level. The further clockwise, the more the compressed signal is mixed with the clean signal. Attack Attack time adjustment. The counter-clockwise position of the knob corresponds to the minimum attack time. The attack time adjustment range is approximately 5 - 40 ms. Release Release time adjustment. The counter-clockwise position of the knob corresponds to the minimum release time. The release time adjustment range is approximately 30 - 800 ms. Auto / Manual Attack-Release Turns the attack/release block on/off. In the A (auto) position, the attack/release block is completely turned off, the position of the Attack and Release knobs does not affect the pedal's operation. Attack and release in this position are close to the minimum values. This mode is for those who do not like to turn the knobs. The compressor will do its job just as well as the first version. In the M (manual) position, the attack/release block is turned on, the position of the Attack and Release knobs affects the pedal's operation. This mode is for those who need more control. Knee Soft/hard knee (switch inside the pedal). The knee determines the shape of the compression bend in the threshold area.

In Hard mode, the signal is compressed immediately upon reaching the specified threshold in the proportion set by the Ratio knob. In Soft mode, the transition from clean to compressed signal is smooth. By default, it is set to Hard. Sidechain Level Switch inside the pedal. The expected level of the external signal controlling compression (Ext. Sidechain input). If a microphone is connected for external compression control (directly, without a preamp), you need to move the switch to the Mic position. For a line level (remote control, preamp, output from another pedal) - to the Line position. To connect a microphone directly to the pedal, you can use an XLR->Ja adapter Specifications

The case dimensions are 64×121 mm, the height is 55 mm (including the knobs). The pedal weighs 295 g. The current consumption is 50 mA. Power supply 9 V, plus on the outside. Battery is not provided. The power supply is not included in the delivery set. VCA chip from THAT A microcircuit from THAT Corp., a leader among VCA chip manufacturers, is used to control compression. Power protection The pedal has power protection against overvoltage and reverse polarity. If an unsuitable power supply is used, neither the pedal nor the power supply will be damaged.
