More tweakable classic Dyna Comp
Everything that the manufacturer's description says is true. It's one of the few Dyna Comp variants that still use the now discontinued CA3080 chip, and components have been optimised so that it has a lower noise floor than on the standard model. The result is indeed the same classic warm Dyna Comp sound and quieter operation. Don't buy if you want a compressor that doesn't colour your sound, but that applies to every Dyna/Ross-inspired compressor. The two internal trim pots are a welcome addition to further tailor the sound. Excellent product.
:)
Provides warm and percussive sound, what is really good for clean stuff, especially funk.

From pumped up cleans to smashing riffs
If you want to get a strong and warm sound, use this comp. Only used in live situations. This is a key to big riffs, powerful rythms and warm cleans. The sound just get bigger, and warms it up, even if it stays natural. Precise knobs. I've sold it just because I prefer the render of my guitars natural sounds (just a matter of taste)

Description
Legendary MXR internal circuitry delivers increased dynamic range, amazing transparency, and an ultra-quiet operation.
The MXR Custom Comp effect pedal is built from the finest components available and designed with a blend of modern and classic compressor technology. At the heart of the compressor pedal resides the legendary and rare CA3080 "metal can" IC that delivers increased dynamic range, greater transparency, and quieter operation. In addition, the MXR Custom Shop design team included RF suppression components into the compressor pedal for interference-free operation, and an internal attack control that allows fine-tuning of the speed of the note's initial attack. Combined with a TPDT (Triple Pole Double Throw) switch for true bypass and heavy-duty pots, the MXR Custom Comp CSP202 compressor pedal will provide years of high performance live and in the studio.
The MXR compressor pedal can be powered by one 9V battery (sold separately).

It's a compressor
It's supposed to have higher quality components for a quieter operation, but I don't have a standard Dyna Comp to compare it too. Quite a bit of flexibility with the controls and the trim pots inside. It can be pretty subtle. I sometimes use it as a clean boost in front of my overdrive, but it can get hissy with the level cranked. That may be an issue with my unclean power supply and 100 year old wiring in my house though.
