Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about KRK RP5 Rokit 5 G2.

Comparisons

  • KRK RP5 G4 are seen as a decent budget option due to significant improvements over older models, yet JBL LSR305 and Kali LP6 are preferred for more neutral sound.

    Source
  • HS5s are noted for their LF roll-off below 200Hz and HF roll-off above ~12kHz, with a mid bump at 1kHz, leading to clear but limited bass.

    Source
  • Users who upgraded from KRK RP5 G2 to Yamaha HS8s noted a drastic improvement in clarity and sound quality, especially in untreated rooms.

    Source

User experience

  • Rokits are often criticized for being too boomy, making them less ideal for accurate monitoring, but can be suitable for casual listening or parties.

    Source
  • Owners find the KRK RP5 G4s loud enough for small bedroom setups, reaching over 100 dB, suitable for typical home studio environments.

    Source
  • Some users experience significant listening fatigue with KRK RP5 Rokit 5 G2s, reporting headaches after short sessions.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • HS5s may require a subwoofer like the HS8s to better handle bass-heavy music, due to their limited low-end response.

    Source
  • In smaller rooms, the HS5s are recommended over larger models like HS7 or HS8, with excess funds advised for acoustic treatment.

    Source
  • Rokit 5 G2s are considered better suited for DJ monitoring rather than precise studio mixing due to their pronounced frequency boosts.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • The KRK RP5 G4s are now considered a decent choice for beginners due to their updated features, though not as pro-level as some alternatives.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • It is mentioned that bypassing the auto standby function on Rokits can enhance their sound, aligning them closer to original KRK studio monitors.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • Some users report that KRK RP5 G2s have a slow cone response time, leading to a muddy bass sound and masking high-mid frequencies.

Solid studio monitors. Only complaint I have is that they are the tiniest bit heavy on the low end

Solid studio monitors. Only complaint I have is that they are a tiny bit strong on the low end. This initially made my tracks slightly weak on the low end, but once I added the KRK 10S to my setup the built in crossover from the 10S completely removed that boost on the low end.

jimmarchi1

crtain range of hyped bass is the krk thing, not my favorite... makes for thin mixes

T

The best monitor for a not professional room

Its not a flat monitor, but its funny, you can reach a good mix very fast. And unlike HS monitors, it dont causes fatigue to the ear when workin for long time.

Good but lookout for black goop of death (I removed all the goop and installed new quality Panasonic capacitors)

Nicely balanced monitors, although low-mids are somewhat coloured. Great for beginners, but for people who're serious about music, then I'd advise something else.
