Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Mooer GE150.

Features and functionality

  • Owners recommend using third-party IRs to significantly improve the sound quality, as stock IRs are often considered subpar.

    Source
  • Delay and reverb effects are fixed at the end of the chain and cannot be reordered, which some users find limiting.

    Source
  • Switching between preset banks requires manual knob adjustment, which might be improved with a firmware update.

    Source
  • Modulation should be minimal to avoid overwhelming the sound; starting effects at 50% can help find the ideal balance.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The Mooer GE150, Hotone, and Nux share similar components and design, although Hotone and Nux are preferred for their better stock IRs.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The Mooer GE150 is suitable for apartment practice, providing a practical solution for those needing a compact and versatile setup.

    Source
  • The Li version's battery is advantageous for outdoor use, especially in sunny conditions, compared to the Pro version.

    Source
  • Avoid using the cab section for live performances to prevent tone degradation; prioritize amp simulations for better distortion and overdrive effects.

    Source
  • For recording, the cab section is beneficial, suggesting experimentation with different mic placements and valves for optimal sound.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • The GE150 can be connected through an audio interface, headphones, or PA, but it cannot serve as an audio interface itself.

    Source
  • It's effective as an audio interface, though users often prefer using DAW plug-ins for effects during recording.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Users continue to seek improved IRs for both Amp and Cab settings, as suggested in the user manual for enhanced sound.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • Maintain a balance of mids and bass for a clear tone, and adjust treble carefully to prevent harshness at higher volumes.

    Source

User experience

  • Utilize the "bypass" function of the tuner as a reference to maintain sound integrity when adjusting settings.

Critic Reviews

Mooer GE150 Multi FX ultimate 2-Year In-Depth Review.

guitarjive.com

The Mooer GE150 Multi FX shines with its impressive range of high-quality amp simulations and a robust selection of effects, making it a versatile choice for practice and live performances. Its intuitive interface and solid durability add to its appeal, allowing players to easily navigate and customize tones. However, it falls short with limited simultaneous effects and the inability to toggle specific effects mid-performance, requiring careful preset arrangement. While it may not compete with higher-end units in sound quality, it delivers significant value for its price. Overall, it’s a reliable and budget-friendly option for musicians seeking an all-in-one effects solution.

Mooer GE150 amp modeller and multi-FX review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Mooer's GE150 is a remarkable multi-effects unit that offers exceptional value for its price, boasting an impressive selection of amp models and effects. It organizes these features into a user-friendly interface, making it a fantastic choice for both beginners and seasoned players looking for versatile tones. While its looping function and extensive presets are highlights, users may find the tweaking options somewhat limited compared to higher-end models like the GE300. Additionally, the pitch shifter could use some improvement. Nonetheless, for those prioritizing quality amp modelling without breaking the bank, the GE150 stands out as a top pick.

positive

Mooer Audio GE150 review | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

The Mooer GE150 delivers impressive value with its extensive range of 55 amp models and 151 effects at an affordable price point. Musicians will appreciate its realistic tones and solid build, making it a worthy addition to any setup. However, while it shines in amp modeling, the limited tweakability of effects and a less-than-stellar pitch shifter may leave some advanced users wanting more. Overall, this compact unit is a compelling choice for players focused on authentic sound without breaking the bank.

Pretty good

Pretty good multifx pedal for amp and cab sims, also love some mod effects.

Practicing and discovering

I've been playing for a long time in a "plug and play" mindset. As I got interested in pedals, I was adviced to start with a multi-effect unit. I bought this one at my local store a year ago and I use it everyday.

The looper, tuner, headphones output, mini-jack input and metronome make it a great tool for practicing at home (it can also work in a band practice context if that's all the gear you got). And even if not all the features are usable (the modulations sound great but the reverbs and delays are ok at best, some amps simulations sound amazing, some others not so much), overall, it's a great way to discover guitar effects and amps. I really like that you can attribute the expression pedal to whatever effects and setting you want : you can really explore and have fun.

absolutely perfect

Actually i didn't have expectation for GE 150 because of it's price, yet when ı start using it, i really surprised, sounds amazing and looks like expensive. So compact and pretty. But switching between presets in stage is difficult. so it's useful for home.
