Practicing and discovering
I've been playing for a long time in a "plug and play" mindset. As I got interested in pedals, I was adviced to start with a multi-effect unit. I bought this one at my local store a year ago and I use it everyday.
The looper, tuner, headphones output, mini-jack input and metronome make it a great tool for practicing at home (it can also work in a band practice context if that's all the gear you got). And even if not all the features are usable (the modulations sound great but the reverbs and delays are ok at best, some amps simulations sound amazing, some others not so much), overall, it's a great way to discover guitar effects and amps. I really like that you can attribute the expression pedal to whatever effects and setting you want : you can really explore and have fun.
