Critic Reviews

Mackie CR3 Review

noaudiophile.com

The Mackie CR3 Multimedia Monitors might shine in their sleek design, but their sound performance falls flat. With a bloated upper bass and an almost non-existent lower end, these monitors struggle to deliver quality audio, making them unsuitable for professional mixing. The treble can be overly harsh, and the general construction feels over-engineered yet poorly executed. While the amp design shows some thought, the lack of a proper crossover leads to significant sound issues. Overall, the CR3s are better suited for casual listening rather than serious audio work, and potential buyers should approach with caution.

We have tested the Mackie CR3 studio monitor! - Perfect Acoustic

perfectacoustic.co.uk

The Mackie CR3 studio monitors deliver decent sound quality and solid volume for their compact size, making them suitable for small studios and multimedia use. However, they falter with weaker bass response and craftsmanship that doesn’t match pricier competitors. While the front-facing inputs enhance convenience, the overall build quality feels slightly lacking. Ideal for beginners and casual users, those seeking robust low-end performance might want to consider pairing them with a subwoofer or look elsewhere. At their price point, the CR3s are a commendable choice, but they come with notable compromises.

great!

These bad boys are definitely not the most ideal for mixing and mastering in any way but they are good for testing your mix and they are tuff as anything. I've had mine for over 2 years and they're still great as ever. only complaint is low end isn't the best but again they're not ideal for mixing. Just running tests and song writing. A great beginner pair of monitors!

You can see that Kmac uses these studio monitors in this video and is probably in the background of some of his other videos. I'm confident that he has the CR3's and not the CR4's because his computer monitor looks to be around 21-24 inches, and based on that, the size of the CR3 makes more sense.
