Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about PreSonus StudioLive 16 Series III.

Features and functionality

  • The DCAs move the faders they’re assigned to, which some live engineers dislike due to their preference for static faders.

    Source
  • Non-recall gain reduces the usefulness of saving scenes, challenging the continuity between different setups.

    Source
  • SD card playback is cumbersome, as it requires index points to avoid starting from the beginning each time.

    Source
  • The FX/Aux meters are prominently placed on the same channel strip as the volume fader, allowing for quick access without menu digging.

    Source

Build quality

  • The XLR inputs lack push button locks, causing connectors to come loose with minimal movement.

    Source
  • Faders are reported to feel poor in quality, with some describing them as among the worst they've encountered.

    Source

User experience

  • Owners report frequent crashes and bugs, including unsaved scenes and unexpected parameter changes.

    Source
  • The "fat channel" segment lights can be distracting, with important labels being difficult to read due to small text.

    Source
  • Transitioning from full-digital to the PreSonus StudioLive requires adaptation, particularly for those used to having faders for tap-delay send instead of knobs.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • Some users appreciate the integration with StudioOne and the Universal Control software for studio use.

    Source

Comparisons

  • Unlike the Presonus StudioLive, Yamaha's 01V96 offers motorized faders and a larger screen, making it more suitable for live settings.

PreSonus StudioLive 16 Series III Review - The Whole Package

musictech.com

The PreSonus StudioLive 16 Series III is a powerhouse mixer/interface that excels in studio and live settings, offering seamless DAW integration and standalone recording capabilities. Its user-friendly design, featuring tactile motorized faders and intuitive LCD displays, makes mixing a joy. The inclusion of Studio One DAW and versatile software enhances its appeal, although it nudges users towards PreSonus' ecosystem for optimal performance. While the touchscreen could be more interactive, the overall ease of use and impressive audio processing options make it a solid choice for those upgrading to a comprehensive production setup.
