Critic Reviews

TC Electronic M3000

soundonsound.com

The TC Electronic M3000 is a formidable contender in the realm of digital reverb units, offering an impressive array of presets and dual processors that can be combined in numerous ways. Its standout feature is the incredible-sounding reverb, powered by new algorithms that deliver natural, realistic effects, surpassing even the highly-regarded Lexicon models. However, the unit's small display area is a slight drawback, making parameter control in Expert mode cumbersome. Despite this, its ease of use and competitive pricing make it a highly attractive option for studios seeking top-notch reverb without breaking the bank.

TC Electronic M3000: STUDIO REVERB PROCESSOR

mixonline.com

The TC Electronic M3000 is a powerhouse reverb processor, renowned for its VSS-3 algorithm that convincingly simulates real spaces with a rich array of effects. Offering dual-processing engines and a plethora of options like delay, EQ, and pitch shifting, it shines in versatility. Users rave about its lush, organic reverb qualities, especially for vocals and orchestral instruments. Its intuitive interface elevates the user experience, minimizing the need for manual consultation. However, the uninspired patch names and a distracting blinking light post-shutdown could irk some. Despite minor flaws, it's a top-tier choice for serious audio engineers.

"Outboard gear is a TLA Indigo EQ2012 parametric EQ, which is very nice, SPL Vitalizer and Transient Designer, which is fantastic for shaping the front of the note; if you want things to sound a little further away you just make the attack a bit softer. The TC Gold Channel is a nice mic preamp; my TC M3000 is a beautiful reverb, very true. The FAT PCP330 vocoder is something I use all the time, and I like the FAT Resonator. The Electro-Harmonix Hot Tubes is very cool, as well as my Bob Moog Moogerfooger. I use the Hot Tubes as a kind of mastering box, for pianos, anything digital that sounds a bit plasticky goes through it. It's a fuzzbox, it adds a bit of grit. If you listen to the final track on Memoryhouse, 'Quartet Fragment', you'll hear it on a 60-piece string section. The drums on the track 'Arboretum' on the Notebooks also went through this."

"Mostly Eventide H3000, and Sony R7 reverb and D7 echo, TC Electronics M3000, and various old retro DDLs and flangers and stuff. I still have my old Delta Labs 1024, which is still one of the best flangers."

In terms of gear, I have used a lot of TC products over the years such as the M2000, M3000 and FireworX processors, but now I mainly use the G-System, both for effects, but also as an amp channel controller.
