Description

Introducing the Yamaha Montage 6, a synthesizer that ushers in a new era of sound creation and dynamic control. This innovation builds on the legacy of the iconic DX and popular Motif, setting a milestone in synthesizer technology. Designed to inspire, it offers a streamlined workflow, massive sound creation and sophisticated dynamic control in a single powerful keyboard.

The Yamaha Montage 6 is equipped with Yamaha's Motion Control Synthesis Engine, a unique feature which unifies and controls two iconic sound engines: AWM2 (high-quality waveform and subtractive synthesis) and FM-X (modern, pure Frequency Modulation synthesis). These engines can be freely zoned or layered across eight parts in a single Montage Performance.

The synthesizer also boasts the Super Knob feature, enabling dynamic sound changes from radical to sublime. This can control multiple parameters simultaneously, resulting in unlimited sound possibilities. The Montage also features Motion SEQ, a tempo-synchronized, completely customizable control sequence that can be assigned to virtually any synthesizer parameter.

Key Features:

  • Motion Control Synthesis Engine: Controls AWM2 and FM-X sound engines
  • Super Knob: Allows simultaneous control of multiple parameters

Yamaha: Montage 6 Synthesizer | Tape Op Magazine | Longform candid interviews with music producers and audio engineers covering mixing, mastering, recording and music production.

tapeop.com

The Yamaha Montage 6 impresses with its deep synthesis capabilities and robust build, making it a standout choice for live performances. Boasting a superior AMW2 playback engine and versatile FM synthesis, it delivers rich, dynamic sounds. The intuitive interface, with its responsive touchscreen and array of customizable knobs and faders, enhances the user experience. While the learning curve for FM synthesis may be steep, the presets provide a helpful starting point. Though software synths offer convenience and affordability, the Montage 6's tactile engagement and solid construction offer an unmatched, satisfying feel. At $3499, it's an investment, but for those seeking a true instrument rather than a mere digital keyboard, it's a worthwhile one.

Yamaha MONTAGE6 61-Key Synthesizer Review | Performer Mag

performermag.com

The Yamaha Montage 6 emerges as a powerhouse synthesizer, melding the best of the DX and MOTIF series into a feature-rich and surprisingly user-friendly package. Its standout Super Knob provides effortless control over multiple parameters, enhancing sound modulation with minimal fuss. The innovative envelope follower further expands sonic possibilities, making it a dream for producers across genres. With its intuitive interface, exceptional build quality, and realistic piano sounds, it's a top choice for serious musicians. Despite its complexity, the Montage 6 feels natural to use, confirming its status as a must-have for both studio and stage.

positive

Yamaha Montage 6, 7 and 8 Review

piano-keyboard-guide.com

The Yamaha Montage 6 dazzles with its impressive sound quality and dynamic control capabilities, thanks to the AWM2 and FM-X sound engines, offering a rich palette of sonic possibilities. The addition of a responsive color touchscreen enhances its user-friendly interface. However, it falls short by omitting a sequencer, a feature available in its predecessor, the Motif, which may deter those seeking a comprehensive workstation. The high price tag, starting at $3000, adds to its drawbacks, especially when compared to competitors like the Korg Kronos. While Yamaha positions it as a synth-centric powerhouse, the absence of key workstation features leaves it feeling incomplete for some professionals.
