Guitars 14

This was my first real guitar. I have got the German version (not distributed by Selmer London) of this guitar. Although the neck is a bit concave it still plays great. But with .011 Rotosounds the tone of the guitar gets quite trebly. Next time I will thy those fabled Martin MEC-12. Hopefully they will sound richer. Edit: After trying several kinds of strings I found out that the [Thomastik Infeld Plectrum AC112] (https://equipboard.com/items/thomastik-infeld-plectrum-ac112 ) are the best strings for this guitar (in my opinion). They sound fuller than the Rotosounds and last more than twice as long as the Martins. So if you have got a Hofner like mine and you wonder what strings you should buy for this guitar, try those Thomastiks.

Strings 12

I bought these strings to try on my Epiphone Casino. The sound is a classic flatwound acoustic tone, rich singing mids and clear treble with a clear ringing sustain (and these are the 11s - the heavier string sets probably sound richer). I previously used D'Addario flatwounds but much prefer the more classic archtop jazz sound of the Thomastiks. The are not cheap strings of course but they are worth the extra in my view over cheaper strings and any archtop deserves good quality flatwounds to get the best possible sound. Now they are my standard strings.
The Rotosound Black Nylon strings are flatwounded and covered in black nylon so it has a smooth and satin touch, plus an edgy look, very pleasant if you are not used to normal wounded e-bass strings which can blister your fingertips, this is probably a close emulation of the touch of a double bass. The most interesting aspect is the sound, placed on a e-bass it delivers a smooth sound, with slightly less gain and sustain probably due to the nylon surface, but this helps in bringing the sound closer to an acoustic bass. I'm using (and recommend) them to play Rock music.
