We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Razer Kraken Pro.

Build quality

  • There are reports of the left side of the headset popping during explosions or bass-heavy sounds, possibly due to excessive bass EQ settings.

    Source
  • A user reports cracking on their Kraken V4 Pro after only two months, raising concerns about durability.

    Source
  • The headband is mistakenly thought to be aluminum but is actually plastic reinforced with sheet metal, a known weak point that can potentially crack under strain.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • The headset's sound quality is perceived as less clear than the Audeze Maxwell, but offers better gaming immersion due to haptics, despite its high price.

    Source
  • Some users feel that the headset is overpriced by approximately $150, given its audio performance compared to cheaper alternatives.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • Holding down the big knob on the hub reveals a menu with additional settings, a feature not documented in the manual or website.

    Source
  • The OLED control hub supports dual connectivity, allowing for simultaneous Bluetooth and dock connections, but only one Bluetooth source at a time.

    Source
  • The headset connects wirelessly to a hub that can use USB or USB-C ports on a PS5, offering dual audio input for easy switching between PC and console.

    Source
  • Some users experience a popping or crackling noise during bass-heavy moments, attributed to potential structural vibrations rather than speaker issues.

    Source
  • The Razer Kraken V4 Pro supports 24-bit wireless on PC, a capability not widely advertised by Razer.

    Source

User experience

  • When charging via USB, the headset disconnects everything and functions as a USB headset, causing issues for those using complex audio setups like Voicemeeter.

    Source
  • The headset vibrates like a tuning fork when lightly tapped, due to wired coils above the earmuffs, creating a distinct feedback sensation.

    Source
  • The control hub's screen quality is criticized as subpar, and some find it unnecessary, considering it a bulky addition without significant functionality.

    Source
  • Users note that the pleather ear pads can heat up quickly, suggesting cloth ear pads from other Kraken V4 models as a more comfortable alternative.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • Haptics significantly enhance immersion in single-player games like Dying Light, with users noting a marked difference in gameplay experience.

    Source
  • The haptic feedback is favored for gaming immersion, particularly in fast-paced games, despite some reports of it lagging behind.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • When charging the headset via USB, users must manually adjust Discord input and output settings, indicating a shift in device recognition.

    Source
  • Using SteelSeries GG software for audio profiles enhances sound quality over Razer Synapse, which some find lacking.

    Source

Comparisons

  • A user compared the Kraken V4 Pro to the Sennheiser HD 650, noting the Kraken is louder but suggesting HD 650 might require a more powerful DAC for optimal volume.

    Source
  • Compared to the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 Pro, the Kraken V4 Pro delivers better sound out of the box without extensive EQ adjustments.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • A suggestion was made to replace the plastic piece holding the yoke with a metal one, addressing potential breakage issues.

Razer Kraken Pro Analog Gaming Headset Review / Test — Podcastage

podcastage.com

The Razer Kraken Pro excels in comfort and delivers a bass-heavy sound that gamers might enjoy, but it struggles with its microphone quality. While the headset is perfect for online gaming, thanks to its booming bass and a mic that slices through game noise, it's not suitable for professional audio tasks like podcasting or voiceovers. The build is decent for its price range, but the microphone’s harsh tone and clipping issues make it subpar for any non-gaming application. This headset is a mixed bag, best suited for those who prioritize gaming audio over versatility.

Razer Kraken is a good headset!

It is a really god headset for long music production sessions! The mic issn`t that good but it ok. Its good sound and bass for music producing! I know that it is a gaming headset but it can also be used for music production and DJing.
