Description
This G60T model 163 is a 60 Watt 1X12 combo. All-tube except the rectifier. Has two switchable channels for clean and preamp-gain with overdrive. General condtion is very good, and has been recently serviced. Minor pull in grill and small tear in tolex. Sounds are crystal clear cleans, and with the touch of a switch over drive tones reminiscent of the Mesa Boogie MKII which these were modeled after. The reverb is lush. Has a bright switch for twang, a polarity switch ,and standby switch so it is very easy on tubes. On the back panel is a speaker out and can be switched between 4 and 8 ohms. It has preamp out and poweramp in which may be used as an effects loop. If the poweramp in is used, the preamp is cut off. Also on the back are the footswitch jacks for channel and reverb switching.

Amazing amplifier with a killing gain section
I got this amp pretty cheap as it is an uncommon and unknown amp from a company that is dedicated to solid state amps in the 70's and 80's. I got on track of this amp(s) as I was repairing the G100T, the bigger brother of this amp.
In their original state, they are a bit unreliable as the choice(s) of caps and brands will make is susceptible to noise and oscillation. A recap is easily done and makes this amp reliable and really nice sounding!
It is set up as a dual preamp amp with a shared EQ. The clean preamp is nice and clean and gives a nice mid boost to the sound. The overdrive preamp is really gainy and gets you quick into the realm of hotrodded Marshalls. No real doom-ish gain is available. With the gain set to low you can get a nice crunch.
The EQ is broad and widely usuable. I didn't needed to alter the EQ when switching between preamps. It's got a great mid response in both preamps and the EQ can focus this even better!
The reverb is amazing and lush
This amp came with two speaker options; an unknown CTS version that sound 'meh' at best and a EVM loaded version (that is too heavy to carry). The latter one sounds the best. I got one with a CTS and replaced the speaker with a Celestion.
Overal this is a great amp with a killer gain section that makes you shelf all the other amps available.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
Set the gain to 9 o clock and add a good booster (clean is good enough) to cut though and get into sonic heaven!

J Mascis confirmed his use of the Acoustic control corporation G60T amplifier in an interview with Vintage Guitar® magazine, conducted by Ward Meeker. He discussed purchasing the Acoustic G60T head after unsatisfactory experiences with an Ampeg V4 and a Yamaha G100, noting, "Eventually, I got an Acoustic 60-watt head that was like a Mesa-Boogie copy. It wasn’t very trebly, but had a very nice sound. I think it had two 6L6GTs." In a Vice article. He mentioned that when he got his first Marshall head that he used both together at a point. “And then, I finally got a Marshall that I used with the Acoustic. That was kind of a good combo.”
