Critic Reviews

Arturia DrumBrute

soundonsound.com

Arturia's DrumBrute impresses with 17 analog voices and a user-friendly interface at a competitive price. Its standout features include a versatile sequencer, per-instrument randomization, and a Steiner-Parker filter that heightens performance potential. While mini-jack outputs and a few parameter limitations are minor drawbacks, the DrumBrute excels in creativity with polyrhythms and unique sounds like reverse cymbals. It's a robust choice for musicians seeking an affordable analog drum machine with individual processing and live performance capabilities. Highly recommended for those wanting a fresh take on analog percussion without breaking the bank.

Review: Arturia Drumbrute — AudioTechnology

audiotechnology.com

Arturia DrumBrute impresses with its true analogue sound and exceptional value. At just under $700, it offers a broad sound palette and individual outputs, making it a top choice for live performance. While it doesn't slavishly recreate the TR808, it brings its own character, pleasing those who value unique tones. However, the lack of digital patch memory might frustrate some, as it requires constant tweaking. Those seeking a perfect 808 clone should look elsewhere. Overall, DrumBrute is a gutsy performer that stands out for its affordability and authentic analogue charm.

positive

Arturia DrumBrute review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Arturia's DrumBrute is a characterful and flexible analog drum machine, praised for its creative sequencing tricks at an attractive price. With 12 synth tracks and a powerful sequencer, it offers a range of gritty, full-bodied sounds, particularly excelling in its kick drum variety. However, it lacks the ability to record or automate sound parameters, which might be a deal-breaker for some users who seek more flexibility in sound manipulation. Despite this, its intuitive interface and hands-on workflow make it a standout choice for those looking for inspiration in their drum patterns.

positive

Arturia Drumbrute Analog Drum Machine review on alijamieson.co.uk

alijamieson.co.uk

The Arturia Drumbrute is a solid analog drum machine with impressive performance and sequencing capabilities, especially for eurorack enthusiasts. While it offers good sound quality, particularly when compressed, and enjoyable swing and randomize functions, it may not satisfy those seeking advanced song sequencing or Machinedrum-like features. Its simplicity in building one-bar beats is appealing, but the reliance on a manual for complex tasks and a less intuitive design due to the shift button are drawbacks. Overall, it's a fun tool for exploring creative paths, though not a groundbreaking innovation.

Analog Drumsounds with patching

Sometimes I like the machine, sometimes not. The Drumbrute is very special regarding sounds. The layout is really nice and it works fine in a live- setup. The parameters for kick and snare could be a bit more detailed

three_cp

Nice drum machine, rather for the stage than in the studio

Nice to play, I am less convinced about the sonic side, but def. nice for jamming sessions

doktorplekter

Relatively cheap for a machine of its caliber

Personally, I am not a huge fan of the sounds of this drum-machine musically speaking, but it is a joy to work with in DJ live-situations!

cosmichorror

pretty neat but uhhh

Dont pay too much for this thing. the amount of control versus the genuine applied variability of its sound isnt really a ratio in its favor.

the_abstract_rhino

So far I like it.

It has good sounds and is relatively intuitive to use. Still have a little more to figure out. Can wait to use it to lay down some tracks.

1 alternative for Arturia Drumbrute Analog Drum Machine, curated by the Equipboard community.

Arturia DrumBrute Impact

$244.00 - $299.00

newer similar sound cheaper alternative

The Drumbrute Impact represents a streamlined and more aggressive spin on the Drumbrute's analog sound. An updated kick and snare stand out as a notable difference between the two, along with the FM drum. Rather than the Drumbrute's filter, the Impact has a distortion setting for the output circuit that can crunch and mangle the Impact's sounds in all sorts of fun ways. Still has Arturia's fantastic sequencer, and the workflow is largely unchanged between the two.
