Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about ATC Loudspeakers SCM25A Pro.

User experience

  • Owners using ATCs in studios report a preference for them over PMCs, highlighting their non-flattering nature that helps in critical listening environments.

    Source
  • PMC monitors are described as having a bass-heavy signature, potentially leading to listener fatigue compared to the more neutral-sounding ATCs.

Critic Reviews

ATC SCM25A Pro - Attack Magazine

attackmagazine.com

ATC's SCM25A Pro monitors are a premium choice for serious studio work, offering exceptional sound clarity and precision across all frequencies. Their design ensures remarkable performance for both sparse and complex musical material, making them ideal for professional environments. However, their high price and lack of adjustability demand a well-treated room to truly shine, which might limit accessibility for some users. Despite this, they stand as a benchmark in nearfield monitoring, worth every penny for those who can afford them.

positive

ATC SCM25A

soundonsound.com

The ATC SCM25A Pro monitors pack high-quality audio performance into a compact, albeit heavy, design. Their standout features include a superbly revealing mid-range, expansive stereo imaging, and a genuine full-range sound that negates the need for a subwoofer in most scenarios. While the price tag may be steep, the precision and transparency offered justify the investment for serious professionals. However, potential buyers should be prepared for the weight and ensure they have the budget ready, as these monitors are an investment you won't want to return from.

Game changer for ME!

Monitors are a very personal choice so these might not be for everyone, but the are exactly what I've been looking for! The midrange detail and depth is unparalleled in my opinion. Some say the are a little "relaxed" in the high frequencies, but for me (someone who mixes dark on bright monitors) they are a perfect match. I can listen to them for LONG sessions without getting ear fatigue. As a matter of fact, it almost seems the longer you listen to them the more immersed you get in the mix/master. They definitely helped me get my mix game up to where I've been shooting for. Now I can't imagine myself without them!

Personally recommended to me by Michael Brauer. Hearing things I've never heard before...

I took the MWTM MHB seminar in 2013. Michael Brauer suggested that I get these monitors. My first impression was that there was a lot of content I was not hearing before in the lo-mids and mids that these speakers brought forth. I would say they're the most honest speakers I've ever owned. After listening to a variety of sources through them, They'll let you know right away if you're in the ballpark, or not. Very effective at low listening levels. Take care when powering them off. It's best to do it from the speaker before turning off your interface.
