BOSS DR-202 Dr. Groove | Vintage Synth Explorer

vintagesynth.com

Boss Dr. Groove DR-202 packs a punch for budding dance music producers. With 256 drum and bass sounds, TR-808 and TB-303 classics, and 400 preset patterns, it’s a versatile tool for creating groove music. Its compact design, battery operation, and easy-to-use interface make it a great choice for DJs and bedroom producers. However, the unlit display might be a drawback for live performances. Overall, it's a budget-friendly, feature-rich option for those looking to craft intricate rhythms and bass lines.

it's not so bad

honestly when I bought my volca beats the guy gave me this for free. Never used it until I got the beatstep pro and now it's a part of the setup. some decent functions and classic sounds.

Rated it 5 star...

... because in this low-budget drum machine there is a pattern sequencer, a dance oriented sample pack and some bass sound. You can idependently set the sound characteristics on each slot (1 button is 1 slot) and you can modify all of them in realtime. Pity that the sound quality put this cutie into the "toy" category.

Decent drum machine limited by sound quality

The effects and the ability to manipulate the sounds make this drum machine stand out, compared to others of its generation, both from Boss and other brands. But the sample quality is pretty low.

Mine has a lousy silver paint job (from a previous owner), and I've never been able to get the bass synth function to work.
