The Echo Dream 2 from Death by Audio is a versatile and inspiring pedal that combines delay, fuzz, and modulation in a unique package. We found the build quality to be top-notch, with a solid feel that inspires confidence in its durability. The pedal's layout is intuitive, with well-placed controls that invite experimentation.
The Echo Dream 2's sound quality is fantastic. The ability to create lush pads, atmospheric textures, and dreamy soundscapes is remarkable. We particularly enjoyed the range of sounds achievable, from subtle slapback to wild, self-oscillating chaos.
However, it's not without its quirks. We noticed that the feedback knob's sweet spot for oscillation is quite narrow, which can lead to unexpected results. The lack of tap tempo and precise delay divisions might be a dealbreaker for some. Additionally, while the built-in fuzz adds character, we found it a bit tame compared to other Death By Audio offerings.
For us, the Echo Dream 2 excels at inspiring creativity and experimentation. It's a pedal that feels alive, responding dynamically to your playing and encouraging sonic exploration. We did notice some added noise in the signal chain, even when bypassed, which might be a concern for those with noise-sensitive rigs.

Great delay
Its a super fun delay, fuzz is dope. The modulation section is fun, you gotta sit down with guy a little bit to learn its quirks but once thats figured out it is like an intrument on its own.

Lo-Fi Dreamy goodness!
It's like the name says, this pedal can provide a texture to tone that is akin to a dream, or perhaps a nightmare. The fuzz, delay, and modulation functions work well together. It's perfect for a fan of lo-fi music to replicate the sound of extremely warped tape recordings.
However, even when the pedal is turned off, it can add a noticeable amount of noise to a pedal chain, which can be a bit obnoxious if you're trying to achieve a clean tone with this pedal on your board. In addition, the delay, like many analog type delays, can get a bit noisy when turned to higher delay times.

I won’t deduct anything from this rating, but I do wish there was a second Channel. Also it would be great to adjust with an expression pedal. But the sound and feel is worth going without.
