From the February 2015 issue of Sound & Recording Magazine, which featured an interview with Yuki Kajiura. It can be seen in the fourth photo.
"Pro Tools HD with a 192 HD. I also use Abelton Live a lot; in fact, 99% of the first Tuner album was recorded direct to Abelton. Live really dominates my laptop on the road with my project KTU: The house is a surround mix, so I use an M-Audio interface to give the house multiple outs."
“The Pro Tools hardware that is plumbed in here is the old 888 system running from a G4 with as much memory in it as you can cram. That really hasn’t changed but all I use that for is recording. There’s no point in upgrading this at the moment because it is good quality, zero latency recording, and that’s all I need from it. In the other room we have a traveling system which is a Pro Tools 8, 192 HD3 setup. Manipulations and assemblies tend to happen in the second rig in my main room which has a Logic 7/Native/MOTU system on it."
Mark’s writing computer uses an SSL MADI Xtreme card and an SSL Alpha Link MADI AX, and the video computer uses a Digidesign/Avid 96i/o and 192 Digital, along with an SSL Delta Link MADI HD.
A Digidesign 192 can be seen amongst the rackmounted gear in Robin Beanland's studio.
Upon entering Ottman's new home, which he built because he needed more work space, one immediately realizes that the vast, acoustical living room alone could accommodate 35 string players. But it's in the back portion of his home where Ottman creates the rough versions of his larger film scores and the final versions of his smaller projects. The room is centered around his Yamaha Motif ES8 controller, the E-Mu 5000, Roland JV-1080, a number of Pro Tools 192 I/Os and a full complement of recording gear. So, with all that extra available space, does he ever record in the great-sounding living room? "Not yet," he says with a laugh. "It's too close to the kitchen, but on occasion, I'll record an overdub in the studio's office. On lower-budget films, such as (1998's) 'Incognito,' I can mix the score here at the house."
